Prisoners relocated from Bang Kwang

The Corrections Department on Wednesday used 17 buses to relocate about 600 prisoners from Bang Kwang prison in Nonthaburi which is under a flood threat. Water from the Chao Phraya River has partly flooded the road in front of Bang Kwang maximum security prison. The prisoners were being moved to other maximum security prisons such as Khlong Phai in Saraburi, Khao Bin in Ratchaburi, and Central prison in Phitsanulok. Corrections Department director-general Suchart Wong-sanantchai said that if necessary about 20,000 inmates at Lat Yao and Khlong Prem prisons would also be relocated.
