163 Iranian nationals held in Thailand’s prisons

Iranian Ambassador to Thailand has said that according to the latest statistics, 163 Iranian nationals are being held captive in Thai prisons. Among these prisoners, 149 people have been convicted of drug charges, and 140 prisoners are serving life sentences. He said that the Iranian embassy in Bangkok has made efforts to put a break on the growing number of arrests in Thailand, adding that fortunately, with the assistance of relevant organizations, the efforts have been successful. He also said that an agreement on the transfer of convicts has also been signed between the Islamic republic and Thailand.
