There were many kinds of swords used in the execution. All of these were made by the senior executioner. These included, "daab hua pla", "daab plai tudd", and "daab plai lam".
After the execution, a ritual knife was used to cut the sacred thread which was used to mark the execution area. According to superstitious belief, no other kife could be used in this ritual. After the prsioner had been executed, the guards found that the easiest method to take off the chains was to chop off his feet at the ankles.
