UPDATE: Gor is now out of prison. Thanks for all your support.

Since we started writing about Gor's courtcase and his subsequent life in prison, people have been writing to us asking how they can help support Gor. Although financial support is always welcome, moral support in the form of letters is greatly appreciated. Please consider sending Gor a postcard or a short letter. In many ways, receiving a short letter from a stranger is worth a lot more to him than a donation. Click here for more details. You can also help support Gor by spreading his message about the "dangers of drug addiction". He has always said that becoming addicted was the easiest part. Stopping was far harder. If you work with teenagers either at school or in a youth center, then consider using Gor's Drug Interviews as it shows how quickly and easy he became addicted. They have already been used in many schools in China, America and across Europe.

Gor has been well known on the Internet since 1997. He has literally thousands of friends around the world. For more than ten years he has helped them learn more about Thailand as well as the Thai language. Now many of these people have been writing to us to ask how they can help him in return. In particular they want to help his daughter who is now living with her grandmother. If you are living inside Thailand, then you are allowed to make a deposit into to his account at the prison. He can then use this money to buy food and clothing to use in the prison. It is very difficult to survive in a Thai prison without support from the outside.

If you want to make a donation, you can say whether it is for Gor or for his daughter, Nong Grace. If it is for Gor, we usualy use it to buy things he needs in the prison shop. At the moment packets of cigarettes are really useful for him. Not just to smoke himself but to use as payment inside the prison. For example, when he first arrived he had to pay four packets of cigarettes just to have a place to sleep on the floor. If he didn't he would have to sleep only on his side. From the donation money, we also give him a monthly allowance which is put on his prison tab. Inside the prison, you have to pay for literally everything. From a blanket for your space on the floor to a decent meal. He also has to pay older prisoners protection money.

All of the money donated goes 100% to Gor. We pay any of the bank fees ourselves so that your full donation reaches Gor.  We have no administration costs. This website is supported by Paknam Web and we don't make any money from it. Some people have allowed Gor to use some of the donations to help other prisoners. For example, Gor recently used some of the donation money to buy a blanket for an old man that had just arrived in his cell. The man had no family to help him and Gor was worried about him. If you make a donation, please say whether you give Gor permission to use some of the money to help others. Any money that is left over each month is used for his daughter who started Kindergarten this year.

D.A.R.E. THAILAND

D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This is a proactive campaign where specially trained police officers go into schools in Thailand to warn the students of the dangers of drugs.

Princess Ubol Ratana
In this picture, Princess Ubol Ratana, the eldest daughter of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, is visiting an exhibition about D.A.R.E. Thailand. The Princess has also her own project called "To Be Number One", which aims to promote the prevention of and solutions to drug problems. It provides drug dependents with chances to become good citizens, while promoting family values and education among young people.

Gor has also offered to help spread the word about how easy it is to become addicted to drugs. Gor's Drug Interviews on this website, have already been used in hundreds of schools around the world. He is willing to talk to students when he comes out of prison.

Message for foreigners.

Please don't even consider taking or dealing in drugs while in Thailand. Penalties are harsh even for minor drugs. You could easily get life or a death sentence. People serving long sentences are sent to the infamous Bang Kwang Prison which is far harsher than this one. You have been warned! Don't join the thousands of foreigners already in Thai prisons.
