It has come to light that a fair amount of contraband seized during searches of Nakhon Si Thammarat Central Prison was smuggled in with the aid of prison officials. As can be seen here, guards are always searched before they can enter the prison. Money and mobile phones have to be left outside in lockers.
Prison authorities from Nakhon Si Thammarat have confiscated more than 300 mobile phones in recent raids. On some of these they have found pictures taken by the prisoners of drug activity inside the prison.
