During this year, 13 inmates on Death Row have been attending a writers’ workshop at Bang Kwang Maximum Security Prison. The purpose was to help heal their self-esteem, but also to set themselves as an example to Thai people of how not to spend their life. The workshops were run by Orasom Suthisakorn who is an award-winning writer for Sarakadee magazine. The outcome of the workshops was a book called “อิสรภาพบนเส้นบรรทัด 13 นักโทษประหาร” (Issaraparb Bon Sen Bantat: 13 Naktod Praharn) or “Freedom on the Line: 13 Death Row Inmates” in English. The book, in Thai language only, costs 190 Baht and is available now from all good bookstores and online at Chula Books.
